Why does it come in two different formulations?
JUVÉDERM® XC is available in two formulations to better meet the needs of different patients. JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC provides volumizing and contouring for moderate wrinkles and folds, whereas JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC can be used to treat the deeper folds and wrinkles.
How does it work?
JUVÉDERM® is made of a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid, a sugar that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid fillers work by holding in water at the injection site and adding temporary volume, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and folds and creating an overall smoother appearance.
How long does each treatment typically take?
Most treatment sessions only take 30 minutes and could be performed over your lunch break.
What makes JUVÉDERM® different than other dermal fillers?
JUVÉDERM® is one of the only fillers that has been approved by the FDA to last up to one year. It uses a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid to provide results that are longer lasting than most other hyaluronic acid fillers. “Cross-linking” refers to the process of turning the liquid hyaluronic acid into a gel form. While many hyaluronic gel fillers have a granular feel, JUVÉDERM® is a smooth, malleable gel that provides a natural look and feel.
How is it different than BOTOX®?
BOTOX® Cosmetice works by relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles and is not actually a dermal filler, like JUVÉDERM®. While BOTOX® is often in treatments alongside dermal fillers, fillers treat wrinkles by adding volume from below the surface of the skin.
How soon will I see results?
Unlike some injectables, you will start to see visible results from your treatment immediately. You will be able to see the full results after 10 days.
How long will the results last?
JUVÉDERM® is one of the only fillers that has been FDA approved to last up to one year, which easily explains why it’s one of the most popular fillers in the U.S. Many patients receive annual treatments.
Are there any side effects?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature and go away quickly. The most common side effects are redness, pain or tenderness, firmness, bruising, swelling, lumps, itching and discoloration at the injection site. As with all injection treatments, there is a very small risk of infection.
Are JUVÉDERM® treatments painful?
You may experience some discomfort during and after the injection. However, JUVÉDERM® does contain a local anesthetic to help increase your comfort level during treatment.
How soon can I return to my normal routine?
You can return to most normal activities immediately, although it is advised that you refrain from any strenuous physical activity until the following day. We also recommend that you avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages and extended exposure to the sun or heat for 24 hours.
Can all skin tones be treated?

How much does it cost?
JUVÉDERM® is priced per syringe and the cost will vary based upon the amount being injected and the formulation you are using.
